Getting Primal

here we are again, lost a little momentum for missing a week but i hope you'll agree we are back with a vengeance, discussing what REALLY COUNTS (?) - everybody's favorite subjects, sex and violence! I know if people are listening then they must have some pretty strong opinions about what's being sai at the podcast, so let me have them, don't hold back, express your primal selves, as well as any ideas, desires, for where SW might go over the coming shows, what subjects need covering and depths want plumbing. Eventually hope to have a full forum up and running but first need to see there is sufficient interest in creative discussion - WHAT ARE WE UP TO HERE besides looking for a warm place to sleep and food for the winter? The prime agenda of the Primal, the hidden purpose behind all our fleeting personal agendas and goals?

Hi Aeolus,

Well done, friend. These podcasts of yours keep getting better and better. The most recent one was particularly interesting, I thought, not to mention very controversial. Although the Jews gave us Jehovah -- and we can't exactly thank them for that! -- they also gave us the Qabalah, don't forget, which acknowledges the female aspect of the Divinity (though of course, not all Jews consider the Qabalah genuine).

In my opinion, whatever deity Moses was 'chanelling' -- and whom many believe is the one true God -- is, as you say, little more than a 'psychic vampire'. If I were a mighty wizard like Gendalf I'd smite that bastard Jehovah! (I'm attempting to express my primal side. :D)

In the next episode of stormy weather, I'd like to see you tackle the subject of depression, for, as is well known, many 'spiritual seekers' become weary of life and succumb to depressive thoughts. It seems to be the disease of our age. Numerous great occultists (including Crowley, to some extent), suffered from depression and eventually gave up on life. It seems to be the case that if one believes in a spiritual dimension to life (can't say I like the word 'spiritual' either), and has a questioning mind, one is likely to suffer from depression. But why?

Hi Louis

very timely request, as i kept thinking recently - i need to talk about despair on SW this week, without quite knowing why. we'll see if Cary and I can cover it, if not, very soon.

The soon to be uncovered purpose of all these fragmented eruptions of our psyches’ is to expose the ego as the cowering idiot that it is.

at which point, the ego can finally relax and cease trying to prove just how important and "manly" (or womanly) it is?!

Get in the hammock where it belongs and witness the wonderful terrible emergence of the Id.

To be clear Aeolus, I am not one of those that seek to get over or transcend their ego. I rather like my ego; I just have to tell it that it is an idiot from time to time.

Your hammock comment reminds of an unique encounter I had years ago. I met a guy at the local diner who seemed both homeless and quite mad. (He said he was, -oh no better not go there) He was however quite engaging and would answer any question, so we spent several hours talking. There is very little of what he said that I would ever repeat. Not because it was bad, but because it would remove credibility from me. Oh well, I brought him up because upon parting he said something like; “Everything is going to be fine, when this is all done, you and me will be sitting in hammocks on some tropical island, sipping drinks and watching young women play on the beach.”

Cheers

Wait a minute, here. "The wonderful terrible emergence of the id"? It seems to me that when someone lets their id show in these comments they get trashed for taking themselves "too" seriously. First, as with all subjective phenomena, only the person involved can tell just how seriously they must take themselves. Second, doesn't the id always take itself seriously and have no sense of humour (or maybe I misunderstood Jung and Freud), so that taking one's self "too" seriously whould be a sign that a complex has been activiated, i.e. the unconcious, the id, is rearing its head? I see very little tolerance for the emergence of the id in the comments of many, if not most, of the people on this site. Besides which, "too much" navel gazing makes people boring and dogmatic. Maybe THEY are the ones who need to lighten up and stop taking themselves so seriously!
