Now the god, in eternal heat, pursues maiden Matter yet again ...but this, His most poignant defeat, will prove also to be His ultimate victory: the metamorphosis of the yielding Earth —no longer the mere temptress-martyr of cosmic radiation — into a self-organizing, self-developing and self-evolving Being ... a dazzling Lolita shining and scintillating like a little lost pearlescent blue marble in the infinite indigo darkness of Spacetime.

The Earth at last begins to catch fire, the seeds of sun-fire long shelled in Her mute matter begin to pop and burst open and gasp heatedly for breath … Dancing serpents (both genetic and telluric) awake from slumbering dormancy and began to dress the globe with their shimming, erotic lace...

The World is a mirror into which the Light of the Sun gazes in wild, free-wheeling wonder.

We are the way in which the Light of the Sun experiences being ‘Other.’

Beneath the hard, thorny bark of Matter is a beautiful naked Girl restlessly and endlessly aroused by the fire and light of the Sun...

"He sees Her bright hair waving on her neck, her eyes like stars of sparkling fire --and whatever is not seen more beautiful must be." (Ovid, Metamorphoses)

In case the Universe would not have any convincing, dignified and sublime answer to tragedy, we humans could not really respect it.

This does not seem a very plausible hypothesis to me...

Modern quantum mechanics found that nonlocal coherence exists in nature: in the paradox of Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen it became clear that what I do in A, can have definite repercussions for what happens far from me in B, without even signals with the velocity of light being fast enough to timely inform the B environment of my intervention in A. Some relationships indeed transcend space-time distances in a "paranormal" way.

*

In Chapter 10 of The Scientifization of Culture (SoC) we try to shed more light on how the paranormal works, from the physical and the psychological point of view. That is, we show close relationships of on the one side explainable physical specimens of nonlocality and on the other side paranormal nonlocal coincidences with psychological aspects.

Generally speaking, we can surmise that the paranormal is an aspect of the universe and its laws, that - if actually existing - would allow a much higher degree of coherence and rational functioning of it than in the case of natural laws merely governing local interactions and relationships. God is deeply integrated Natural Laws that cause evolution and fate as such to obey subtle coherence. (Think of Einstein's "Subtle is the Lord.")

*

In all: subtle macro-coherences have been experimentally established in the case of the paradox of Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen. Now my hypothesis is that more generally the laws of the universe are far more subtle, "macro-orchestrating" (intelligent) and coherent than we thought hitherto, up to and including their implying a moral order which has an answer to those "calling from the depth".

In short, the paranormal and supernatural are ambiguous and marginal in virtually all ways: socially, intellectually, academically, religiously, scientifically, and conceptually. They don’t fit in the rational world.

There is a pattern, and it has enormous implications. The theories of anti-structure and rationalization provide remarkable insight.

One of the implications of the pattern is that there are subtle but pervasive pressures that conspire to keep the paranormal marginalized and scientific investigation at a minimum. This does not require a consciously organized human conspiracy. It is a direct property of the phenomena. Psi interacts with our physical world, with our thoughts, and with our social institutions. Even contemplating certain ideas has consequences. The phenomena are not to be tamed by mere logic and rationality, and attempts to do so are doomed to failure.

The matter of the world as a whole is not an empirical object, although it is unquestionable real.

A genuine myth handles one unit: religion, science, politics, social every day life and extends [and is constrained by] the concepts of order and apprehension of natural experience. This is the source of its rational aspect. As distinct from this, the poetic myth is either pure art or, at least, half religion, half art.

Magicians today formulate images, written symbols and ceremonies, which consist of certain actions and cults, and through which they make known their wishes with certain signals. This is the language of the gods...

All affections and bonds of the will are reduced to two, namely aversion and desire, or hatred and love. Yet hatred itself is reduced to love, whence it follows that the will's only bond is Eros.

There are three gates through which the hunter of souls [animarum venator] ventures to bind: vision, hearing and mind or imagination. If it happens that someone passes through all three of these gates, he binds most powerfully and ties down most tightly.

DARK SHAMANISM said...

The tendency has been to concentrate on the morally “good” side, that is, the healing function of the shaman, as a vital service to both individuals and the community. However this tendency to emphasize only the positive, therapeutic, and socially integrative dimensions of shamanism is a distortion. Nonetheless, it is this image of the shaman that has proven very popular among well-educated North Americans, Europeans, and urban Latin Americans, who
approach shamanism as a set of magical techniques that can be used for self-realization by attaining profound or mystical experience, and as a source of alternative therapy, both physiological and psychological. Ethnographic experience of Amazonian dark shamanism very much contradicts this imagery and provides a reminder of the complex and dangerous nature of actual magical practices.

The “dark” side—the shaman’s power to destroy or inflict harm through sorcery and witchcraft—though recognized, has received little in-depth attention. The weight of attention is on the shaman’s capacities to harness cosmic forces for the benefit of humanity.

*

The attacks of the dark shaman paradoxically ensure the possibility for sociality through his offer of human sacrifices to the predatory rulers of the cosmos, who might otherwise consume humanity utterly.

Children at the first will call every woman mother, but afterward they come to distinguish according to truth, so experience, if it be in childhood, will call every philosophy mother, but when it cometh to ripeness, it will discern the true mother” Similarly,in Discourse on Method. THE Critique of Descartes' Method - Vico's VERUM FACTUM principle:

The principle states that truth is verified through creation or invention and not, as per Descartes, through observation:

“The criterion and rule of the true is to have made it. Accordingly, our clear and distinct idea of the mind cannot be a criterion of the mind itself, still less of other truths. For while the mind perceives itself, it does not make itself.”

This criterion for truth would later shape the history of civilization in Vico’s opus, the Scienza Nuova (The New Science, 1725), since he would argue that civil life – like mathematics – is wholly constructed.

Dark Shaman, our true nature does indeed involve the dark side. He who loses sight of it is delaying/disguising fate. What is installed in the unconsious will eventually be brought to light. Embrace your dark side. Know thyself. Shame on the moon. The comments presented for this essay are of the highest order. Dennis
